It was goth death metal night at Radio and I'd schlepped over in my wifebeater and PJ pants, so I felt a little out of place. Tilden will serve you excellent drinks whether you're pierced or not. His mom taught at my junior high school, and he's a great clothing designer. Jonathan wanted to show me some graffiti in the men's room, but we had to wait because men kept going in. So I checked out the new stuff in the women's room. Mutual, I'm sure. While we were waiting, I noticed a little door next to the women's room. It has an Employees Only sign, and I assume it means only very small employees, so I didn't go in. Finally, the men's room cleared out so I could see what Jonathan had been so amused by. The goths left for danker climes when the DJ put on some Kool Keith (they weren't nearly as pretty as the ones in The Matrix anyway) and some nouveau preppies took their places at the bar. I experimented with the manual settings on my camera. These were either 2 or 3 seconds long. I didn't have my tripod, but holding the camera on top of a highball glass works wonders. They were still a bit dark so I Photoshopped all of them, except for this one. This one came out just right on its own. And I finally figured out how they made all those cool b/w videos in the '80s that had the green bottles and whatnot. I'd always thought they'd hand-painted the cells, but maybe they just took the other colors out. I'm sure everyone else already knew this, but it was a bit of an epiphany for me. Anyway. It was time to go home.
